Information Technology Job Trends

The Spring 2009 issue of Occupational Outlook Quarterly has an 8 page article on job trends in Information Technology. Go to it directly by clicking here The article identifies major job groups in the IT field and relies on data from the Current Population Survey. Overall IT occupations grew by about 8% from 2001 to 2007. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts overall growth from 2006 to 2016 at 24%, but those predictions were made before the current recession.

Career In Education Presentation

The Monmouth County Library's Career Information Center will present a program on Careers in the Educational Services Industry in Monmouth County on Friday, April 24th at 10am. The educational services industry includes public and private schools, colleges, trade schools, tutoring services and adult education providers. It is the third largest industry in Monmouth County. Occupations range from include teachers, health care workers, cooks, bus drivers, custodians, coaches, teachers assistants etc. Statistical information will be based on the Career Guide To Industries (from the Bureau of Labor Statistics) and Local Employment Dynamics from the US Census Department.

Careers In Educational Services Friday April 24th 10am

The Monmouth County Library Career Information Center will present a program on Careers In Educational Services on Friday, April 24th at 10am at the Eastern Branch Library on route 35 in Shrewsbury, NJ. The educational services industry includes both private and public schools at all levels from Kindergarten to Graduate Schools. Occupations range from teachers to secretaries. It is the third largest industry in Monmouth County. Presentation will demonstrate how to find data on occupational titles, training, growth rates and working conditions. Presentation is based on data from the US Census and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Facts on the Monmouth County Economy 2009

New Jersey Gets Federal Funds For Job Training

New Jersey is the first state to qualify for funds from the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. New Jersey qualifies for the funds because it provides unemployment insurance to people who are in training programs and to people who were only working part-time.
