A given occupation occurs in different industries. If you are looking for an occupation in only one industry, but not finding work, then perhaps you could look in other industries that employ the same occupation. The National Employment Matrix from the Bureau of Labor Statistics will show you a ranked list of industries for a given occupation.
Go to the Bureau of Labor Statistics webpage on "Employment Projectins" at http://www.bls.gov/emp/ . Scroll down to "National Employment Matrix". Select "Search by Occupation". Enter your occupation and view the results. To find local companies in the industry list, use a business directory such as ReferenceUSA. which is available via www.jerseyclicks.org
