This Career Information Center program will showcase Jobcentral, the online job search service operated by the Direct Employers Association. Through an arrangement with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Jobcentral lists job announcements made through the NJ Department of Labor. Jobcentral also lists job posting from members of the Direct Employers Association and provides a link to search results from Indeed.com, simplyhired and google.

NJ Libraries offer Help in Tough Times

The New Jersey State Library has set up a website to help people deal with these difficult economic times. For assistance in accessing or using these resources visit your local library. The Career Information Center at the Easter Branch of the Monmouth County Library in Shrewsbury has extensive resources for job-hunting and career decisions. Career Program: Finding Potential Employers

The Monmouth County Library's Career Information Center will present a program on creating customized lists of potential employers by using business directories and other resources. The Program will be help on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 10am. The Career Information Center is at the Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library at 1001 Rt 35 in Shrewsbury, NJ. The Career Information Center librarian will show you how to create lists of potential employers by using print and online resources such as the Occupational Outlook Handbook, ReferenceUSA and CareerInfoNet. Identifying and contacting potential employers (even if they are not advertising for new employees) is one of serveral job-searching methods.

If you are looking for a job in New Jersey, you should try JobCentral at www.jobcentral.com Job Central is also called National Labor Exchange and is produced by the DirectEmployers Association. It is linked with other online job sites such as www.simplyhired.com and www.indeed.com The DirectEmployers Assciation started out as a recruiting tool for companies that wanted to diversify their workforces. It is now affiliated with the National Association of State Workforce Agencies which includes the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Job Central appears on the NJ Department of Labor's "Job Seekers" webpage as "Find employment through similar employers" and as "National Rapid Reemployment Initiative". Yes, this is a bit confusing. Using US Census Data In Your Job Search

US Census publishes a set of statistics called "Local Employment Dynamics" which describe job creation, employment rates, "separations", new hires, wages of newly hired employees and differences in the above criteria between men and women at the county and state level. With data on all major industry sectors (down to the 4 digit SIC code level) this data can help you in your job search by showing the occupational turnover that occurs in all industries (some more than others).

These statistical databases will be demonstrated at the Monmouth County Library Career Information Center at 10am on Friday, August 21st. The Library is located at 1001 Rt 35 in Shrewsbury, NJ. The Career Information Center will present a demonstration of Job-Hunting Services available from the website of the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development The program will be at 10am on Friday August 7th at the Monmouth County Library at 1001 Rt 35, Shrewsbury NJ. No registration is necessary.
