Career Program: Becoming an independent contractor, consultant or self-employed
The Monmouth County Library Career Information Center will host a program on alternative business arrangements. Richard Loniewski, a SCORE counselor, will describe the differences in being an independent contractor, a consultant or a self-employed worker. The program will be on Friday, March 19, 2010 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm. The Career Information Center is located at the Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library at 1001 Rt 35 in Shrewsbury. New Employment Projections 2008-2018
The Monmouth County Library Career Information Center will present a program on the latest employment projections from the US Department of Labor. The projections cover the 2008-2018 time period. They are on the Bureau of Labor's website at www.bls.gov.
The projections are also included in the new editions of the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the Career Guide to Industries and the National Employment Matrix.

Careers In The Natural Gas Industry
The Monmouth County Library Career Information Center will present a information session on careers in the Natural Gas Industry at the Eastern Branch Library on Route 35 in Shrewsbury at 4pm on Monday, December 14th, 2009.
A representative from the New Jersey Natural Gas company will describe careers and occupations in the natural gas industry. This is not a job-fair. Job openings occur in industries through business expansion and from replacement of retiring workers. Jobs in utility industries are relatively recession resistant because people need heat, water and electricity just as they need food.
